About Guyana and its flag
Guyana’s national flag, commonly called the Golden Arrowhead, uses green, gold, white, red and black. Its constitutional schedule supplies an official description and colour interpretation, while the Ministry of Education identifies it as an early symbol of Guyanese nationhood.
Flag design and meaning
The flag has a green field with two superimposed hoist-based triangles pointing toward the fly. A large gold triangle is edged in white; above it sits a shorter red triangle edged in black. The constitutional schedule gives a 3:5 proportion for land use and 1:2 at sea.
