How country pages are researched

Name The Flag combines a static country-facts snapshot with reviewed editorial material. Country pages do not make live API requests, so visitors receive the same facts and copy that passed the publication review.

Facts and maps

Country names, language, currency, border, capital, population, and area data are sourced from established open country datasets and recorded in the project at build time. Map geometry is derived from Natural Earth and world-atlas data. Flag assets are credited in the site footer.

Editorial review

Flag design, history, and symbolism are published only after a source-backed editorial review. Primary government, legal, archive, and museum material is preferred. Reputable reference and vexillology sources are used to corroborate claims when a primary source is unavailable.

What we avoid

We do not infer symbolism from colours alone, copy source text, or publish unverified historical claims. Pages still being prepared retain factual information but do not present unreviewed editorial claims.

Updates

Published editorial records carry review and update dates. Sitemap dates change for a country page when its published editorial content changes, helping search engines identify meaningful updates.
