About Lesotho and its flag
Lesotho’s national flag is governed by the National Flag Act, 2006. It combines blue, white and green horizontal stripes with a black Basotho hat in the centre. The hat is especially distinctive because the Government of Lesotho identifies it as the country’s national symbol.
Flag design and meaning
Three horizontal stripes run from blue at the top to white in the middle and green at the bottom, in proportions of 3:4:3. A black Basotho hat is centred on the white stripe. The legal design gives the flag an overall 2:3 proportion and specifies the hat’s height relative to the white band.

History and adoption
