Flag design and meaning
The legal description specifies a green flag, proportioned 3:2, with an orange eagle in flight above three vertical fly-side stripes. Read from left to right across that block, the stripes are red, black, and orange; the statute also sets official colour references.

State House records that the flag entered use with Zambia’s independence on 24 October 1964, replacing the defaced Blue Ensign used under Northern Rhodesia. The 1965 National Flag and Armorial Ensigns Act formally declares the national flag and sets out its design.
