About Eritrea and its flag
Eritrea’s national flag combines a red triangle running from the hoist to the fly with green above and blue below, plus a golden olive wreath and upright branch. Flag design and meaning

History and adoption
Government histories trace the wreath-and-branch motif to Eritrea’s blue flag of the federation era. The present design retains the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front layout but replaces its yellow star with that older motif. A new Eritrean national flag was hoisted at the Independence Day celebration in Asmara on 24 May 1993.
