About United Arab Emirates and its flag
The United Arab Emirates flies a four-colour national flag: a broad vertical red band at the hoist and horizontal green, white, and black bands. The UAE Government’s official platform lists the flag as a national symbol and describes the country as a constitutional federation of seven emirates, established on 2 December 1971.

Four plain colour fields form the design. A broad red vertical panel stands at the hoist; the remainder has three equal horizontal bands, green above white above black. The official fact sheet gives that order when the flag is displayed.
