About Austria and its flag
Austria’s flag is the Republic’s red–white–red tricolour. Article 8a of the Federal Constitutional Law identifies those as the Republic’s colours and defines a flag with three equally wide horizontal bands: red at top and bottom and white in the middle. The constitutional definition describes the plain flag without an emblem.
Flag design and meaning
The required layout is a rectangle of three equally wide horizontal stripes. The upper and lower stripes are red, while white occupies the central stripe. For identification, check that all three bands have the same depth and that the basic design has no central shield or other device.
