About Hungary and its flag
Hungary’s national flag is the red, white and green horizontal tricolour defined in Article I of the Fundamental Law. The 1949 Constitution also described a tricolour of even horizontal bands, while Act CCII of 2011 sets current rules for its use, including ceremonial raising on national holidays.
Flag design and meaning
The colours run from red at the top to white in the middle and green at the base. Each horizontal band has equal width, so the design reads as three uninterrupted, evenly balanced stripes with no device included in the constitutional description.
